Dymond Engineering & Metal Products Ltd
CNC folding is metal origami on a big scale. Sophisticated and attractive retail displays can be created with simple or complex folds – in sheet metal and wire. At Dymond we have the ability to produce folds up to 2 metres long, at a maximum gauge of 6mm thickness.
How it works?
The process is achieved with a press brake. High pressure is used to exert force onto a piece of metal slotted between two parts of a tool. The upper is the punch (that presses the metal down) and the lower is the die – this has a v-shaped groove securing the metal. A CNC program has full control over angles, backstops and the punch stroke (capable of a colossal 25 tonnes of pressure per metre). Many different folds can be completed within the same program.
