Last month the founder and original owner of Dymond Shopfittings, Colin Dymond, retired after 36 years with the company he started in 1981.
We held an excellent retirement lunch with all the staff and some former employees to say a fond farewell to Colin as the business now enters an exciting new phase in its development.
Dymond Shopfttings was formed to provide a precision metal fabrication service to shop fitters and retail designers and remains a leading supplier to the industry today. As part of Colin’s long term exit plans he sold the business in 2010 to ensure its continuation. The new owners, Mike Garner and Sue Roberts, brought fresh impetus to develop the business with with Colin.
In September 2016 Shaun Couch was recruited as our new Product Design and Manufacturing Engineer to work alongside Colin prior to his retirement. Shaun is a skilled engineer offers more than 20 years’ design, production management and project engineering experience working in a number of roles with well-respected companies.
Mike Garner, Managing Director, paid tribute to Colin saying he “has been hugely instrumental in making Dymond Engineering and Dymond Shop Fitting the success story it is today. He’ll be sadly missed by the team here and all those clients he has helped over the years. His departure, however, makes room for Shaun, who has already proved a great asset with his fresh enthusiasm and breadth of experience. We’re as responsive and competitive as ever, hungry to win new business, eager to innovate and expand into a wider range of sectors.”
Shaun added “I’m thoroughly enjoying my new role and very excited about becoming part of a business with such an excellent reputation for its value engineering expertise, product quality and solutions-focused approach. We have a terrific offering for contractors, manufacturers, joiners and designers, as well as business owners in the retail arena – more practical solutions, better value, shorter lead times and excellent service.”
We invite our customers and suppliers to join us in wishing Colin a very happy retirement and in welcoming Shaun to the business as we enter this new and exciting era.
